A little about MilkandMore…

Hi, my name is Emma, and since 2015 I have worked with babies, children, and their families as a maternal and child health nurse in the A.C.T. community. I have extensive knowledge and skills in all things breastfeeding, parenting, solids, sleep, and settling.

As a mother of four children I know just how important it is to get the right support to help you learn new skills and address the many challenges that come with having children.

So what can I do for you?

By engaging with me, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Maternal and Child Health Nurse, during this new and sometimes challenging journey, I believe I can support you to achieve your individual parenting goals, restore your confidence, and develop a plan to help you continue to move forward wherever that may be.

A little bit more…

I am a Registered Nurse, graduating in 2008 from the University of Canberra. After a year of working in the hospital I knew I wanted to be working in preventative health care so went on to complete my Master's in Public Health through the University of Melbourne, majoring in primary health care.

After the birth of my first child, I became interested in combining what I’d learnt in my masters with supporting families, so whist working in maternal and child health I completed a Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Healthcare through the Australian Catholic University.

During my work as a maternal and child health nurse, primarily supporting families with sleep and settling, I discovered my love for helping women to breastfeed, because it isn’t always that easy, and so, I qualified as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

What is a International certified lactation consultant?

  • Why Choose an IBCLC?

IBCLC® lactation consultants are recognised throughout the world as holding the premier global credential in the lactation care profession (LCANZ, 2023).

  • What is an IBCLC?

Professional Lactation Consultants are knowledgeable about up-to-date evidence-based practices in lactation as demonstrated through a rigorous exam process and re-certification at 5-year intervals (LCANZ, 2023).

  • Who holds IBCLC's accountable?

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners is the governing body holding accountable IBCLC’s to Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics, as well as working within a clearly defined Scope of Practice.
